JOBS EVALUATED BY CAMPUS, JOB FAMILY, GENDER
Please note: this document contains a discussion of the notation used in
Appendix 8 of the final report. The rest of Appendix 8 is available in
hardcopy (paper) form only. This information was included because it was
available in electronic form and contains useful summary descriptions of the
Job Families used in the report.
Appendix 8 Notation
The evaluation and resulting point values generated through the WyCOMP
System are based on job content - not job title. In discussion and in performing job
evaluations the Committee often found that job titles were not a valid determination of
hierarchy of similar and related family jobs. The evaluation reflects the accuracy and
uniformity of the employee's questionnaire responses and the completeness of
the job description (for clarification of responsibilities).
In reviewing Appendix 8 the reader is cautioned to remember that the job
evaluation reflects positions as they existed in 1990-91. Many positions have changed
since that time. This Appendix is presented to facilitate an assessment of how well the
job evaluation system evaluated positions as of one point in time.
The following pages detail the evaluation results of the 353 jobs in the model.
The jobs are categorized by job family as noted in the title on the second line of
each page.
- The "job code" column is the numeric identification of each job.
- The "benchmark" column denotes whether the job was a benchmark position.
- The "job family" column denotes the generically related "family" of jobs with
similar job statements and vocational attributes (a listing of job family definitions
follows).
- The "administrative job grade" is the wage grade the position attained.
- The "predicted job grade" is the evaluated point value of each job.
- The "gender" is the gender of the employee incumbent.
- The "campus" column indicates the campus location of the job.
