- Benchmarks
- A sample of bargaining unit positions
representing the diversity of positions in the unit.
- Benchmark position
- A position that can be matched to a job included in
external salary surveys and/or is representative of the
variety of work performed by UMPSA unit
members.
- Compensable factors
- Characteristics of a position which are used to
predict its value in the statistical model.
- Essential functions
- Fundamental duties that the employee must be
able to perform, with or without reasonable
accommodation.
- Factor
- A group of job duties that measure a
more general, common characteristic of many
positions.
- Factor weight
- How much a specific factor contributes to
explaining the predicted point value of a position.
- Hierarchy
- Array of market values (determined from
market surveys or from internal University ranking of
jobs) for benchmark jobs
- Job evaluation
- Process of assigning a job to a salary
range.
- Job family
- A group of jobs that are similar in some
respect, either in the nature of work performed or the
constituent group served.
- Point value
- A number, determined by the sum of
weighted responses to the job evaluation
questionnaire. The point value places a job in a
salary grade.
- WyCOMP
- Computer software produced and licensed
by The Wyatt Company to write job descriptions and
evaluate jobs based on the statistical model
developed for a particular organization.
